Landscaping differs from gardening in several ways, including creating a specific look. Plants are selected to create the desired effect, whereas gardening usually begins with the maintenance of a plant collection. Often, but not always, landscaping is used in large gardens and low-maintenance plants are needed for mass planting to achieve the desired look.
